Darnley's Spiced Gin
In our gin the distinctive pine, lavender camphor-like flavour of the juniper berry is the keynote around which all the other botanicals are built. We select the most aromatic, oil rich berries which grow in Southern Europe.
The woody notes of dried angelica root from France helps to make our gin dry.
Coriander seed from Morocco contributes warm, gingery, sage like flavours and a soft spiciness.
Cinnamon from the inner bark of trees native to Sri Lanka and South East Asia brings a peppery influence.
The dried seeds from the delicate cumin flower originating from the Eastern Mediterranean and India are rich in essential oils giving a distinct warmth and earthiness.
Indonesian nutmeg is a sweet and delicate seed which adds a hint of mystical eastern spice.
The aromatic dried cloves flower buds from exotic Madagascar and Zanzibar bring balance with rich floral and herbal spices.
Ancient ginger root from China delivers ginger and slight citrus freshness.
GRAINS OF PARADISE
Native to West Africa and known as the African pepper, grains of paradise has an intriguing peppery flavour.
The thick cassia bark from Indonesia brings an almost spiced chocolate note.
Hot Gin Punch
50ml Darnley’s Spiced Gin
120ml Premium Ginger Beer
70ml Cloudy Apple Juice
10ml fresh lime juice
Cinnamon stick (optional)
Garnish: with apple slices
Serve: in a wine glass
Add all ingredients (except gin) into a pot over medium-high heat. Feel free to add a cinnamon stick for extra festive spice.
Let it reach a simmer, then turn off the heat.
Pour 25ml of Darnley’s Spiced Gin into each glass.
Ladle desired amount of punch into each glass and garnish with sliced apple.
The Perfect Serve
50ml Spiced Gin
Fill a glass full with with cubed ice. Pour your measure of Darnley’s Spiced Gin and then top with ginger ale. An orange slice garnishes this serve perfectly.
