Meet Darnley's Gin Distiller Scott Gowans

Over the next few weeks, we're going to introduce you to some of the brilliant team behind Darnley's Gin.
First in our series, meet our distiller, Scott Gowans:

"I started my career by studying Brewing and Distilling at Heriot Watt University. Initially I was a brewer for large breweries, having a love for crafting new beer flavour profiles. This love for creating flavour really helped me make the jump to becoming Darnley’s distiller and concentrating on one gin range.

I love my role here as I get the fun job of playing with new botanicals and seeing how they interact together during distillation, to bring about interesting and new flavour profiles. I love to see people enjoying the gins I make here, whether they are old recipes or something new. I always take pride in ensuring that if you enjoyed our gin 5 years ago, it will taste the same today.

Although I love all of the Darnley’s Gin range, my tipple today is our Navy Strength Spiced Gin with tonic and a sprig of rosemary. This gin goes a long way in mixed drinks with bold spices and plenty of piney juniper, but I also enjoy it just simple as possible, on the rocks as a sipping gin."
